Category Five, Huntingtown High School’s yearbook, has been recognized once again for excellence and has received honorable mention in the 2019 Jostens Look Book. Every year, Jostens recognizes the best yearbooks across the country and features spreads, covers, photos, designs, and covers. The goal of the Jostens Look Book is to help schools find ideas and inspiration for their next yearbook.

Category Five was created by Editors in Chief Makenzie Duvall and McKenna Fossile, and staff members Audrey Carter, Hannah Wilson, Ariana Smith, Abbey Galdieri, Samantha Cook, Hannah Kennerly, Haley Rivera, Francesca Costello, Larissa Aguirre-Echevarria, Emily Anderson, Cameron Badman, Robin Freeland, Marissa Kasulke, Alyssa Tucker, Sydney Atkins, Taylor Carista, Kayla Coffield, Willow Cooper, Patrick Demouy, Shannon Ganley, Trey Gorman, Byrnan Janssen, Kenny King, Zach Nielsen, Melina Olivo, Kasey Stovall, Rosa Tristan, and Alyssa Xander, under the direction of Amy Trainer, Huntintown High School’s yearbook adviser.

Alumni editor in chief, Makenzie Duvall states, “Working on this year’s book was such a rewarding experience. After months of struggling to come up with a design concept, using a minimalist approach was something both McKenna and myself were skeptical about, but the end result was amazing. I am so thankful for the time I spent with the Huntingtown High School’s Yearbook Staff and know that they will continue to do great things.”

Out of thousands of books submitted to Jostens, only a few hundred are chosen to be in the Look Book. The Huntingtown High School's Category Five yearbook was one of fifteen Maryland schools who received honorable mention, along with Calvert High School, another Calvert County School. The panel of judges are comprised of nationally recognized scholastic journalism professionals and award-winning yearbook advisers, selected the best examples of yearbook spreads and covers to make up the 319-page 2019 Look Book.

Adviser, Amy Trainer, commented, “Working with Jostens is an honor. I absolutely love working with a company who cares so much about my staff. My rep, Steve Sweet goes out of his was constantly to help. He is the best rep anyone could ask for. Dee Skelton is also an amazing publishing consultant. Her spirit and energy make yearbook fun for both me and my amazing yearbook staff. I am so lucky to have the best rep, best publishing consultant, and the best yearbook staff anyone could ask for.”
